Wananga - Reflection on reading

On this week of wananga or at my house that thing that I did is read a manga. The manga that I read in my spare time or in wananga is called Record of Ragnarok. Record of Ragnarok is a manga all about gods and humans or people. Record of Ragnarok is an anime as well and it is very good if it's in a movie or series.  Manga is a type of book that doesn't have colour on it, it only has a drawing of the anime. The record of Ragnarok is all about god and humans that fight for their lives, so this is the fight goes if the human won they will have one thousand years to live and if god died they just died. This fight has 12 rounds and the gods have two won and the human have one won. The god is very powerful but not telling that humans are not strong but the human is strong as well. One of the humans defeated one of the gods named posidon. This is all as far it goes.  This is the book that  I read in wananga or in my spare time.

WANANGA REFLICTION - MATARIKI

MATARIKI

What is Matariki -
A cluster (collection of stars) which is made up of mainly 9 stars - between 7-9  are most visible in the night sky. Matariki was Formed more than 100 million years ago. Matariki was celebrated every year during the winter months. Matariki was Signifies as the start of the Māori New Year. Matariki is also referred to as the Pleiades or the seven sisters. It’s a time of remembrance to reflect on the previous year. The stars disappear from view around April/May and reappear in late June/July. Festivities are held throughout the winter months. Whānau came together during long, cold nights for entertainment and learning. A Tohunga (spiritual expert) would look to the Matariki star cluster to find out about the upcoming year's crop harvest. Bright, clear stars promised a warm and successful season. Hazy stars, however, warned of cold weather and poor crops.
Meaning of the stars -
Matariki signifies reflection, hope, connection to the environment and the gathering of people.
Waitī is connected with all freshwater bodies and the food sources that are sustained by those waters.
Pōhutukawa is connected to those that have passed on.
Waitā is associated with the ocean, and food sources within it.
Waipuna-ā-Rangi is connected with the rain.
Tupuānuku is connected with everything that grows within the soil to be harvested or gathered for food.
Tupuārangi is connected with everything that grows up in the trees: fruits, berries and birds.
Turangi is connected with the winds.
Hiwaiterangi is the star connected with granting our wishes and realising our aspirations for the coming year.

          ENGLISH - Film studies

Branstrom -  A fox wants to buy a jumbo pop from the elephant's store but they won't sell it to him.
          - The bunny officer steps in to help.
Technique -  Colour - bright - heartening scene, animated at children so is colourful & engaging
Light - Warm, Natural, bright - daytimes, hot sunny day, fox/ bunny spotlighting.
          - High/low angles - elephants are taller, feels bigger, superior, we aren't meant to like elephants because they won't serve them- brought angrily tone, low. Angles from Fox  pov & high angles down onto fox makes him look small

Statement- In the 'popsicle' scene, high angles shots are used to show the imbalance of power between characters.
Evidence - We see this when the elephants are talking to the fox. The low angles shot is used to show how much bigger and more imposing the elephants is than the fox.
X- Audience- This makes the audience feel sad for the fox because he is being refused service because of his size.
X - Directors  - The purpose of this is to introduce the idea of stereotyping to the viewer. Appearing large and rough, the elephants' shopkeeper refuses service because he is a fox, Strengthening its idea is the elephant's quote ' Go back to your side town'.
X other technique - Combined with the use of the high angles shots, we see the differences in the characters, rather than the similarities. The high angles point of view makes the fox seem even smaller than the elephants towering over him.
L real-world link - Issues like this where people are judged on their size, race or religion are not isolated to this film. in the real world, we tackle the ongoing issue of discrimination in every country, even in 2021.

English Unpacking Themes and Ideas - Rojan

Tolerance - Tolerance means the ability to put up with others beliefs, attitudes & culture, even when you don't agree/it's different from your own.

Overcoming adversity -  Pushing through something difficult or dangerous.

Deep focus - everything in the image is sharp and clear

          - Close up shots
          - Costume - hat - a symbol of hiding, - Off shows feels safe, on wants hide, not be seen.

Shallow Focus - focuses us on part of an image and blurs the rest - tells the viewer where their attention is needed

In the Holocaust scene, the shallow focus is used to show the theme of tolerance. For instants, we see a picture being passed around the room until it reaches it through Jamal. The picture is a stereotype of an African American with big lips and has Jamal names on it. As he receives it, Jamal put his hat back on and shrinks into his chair. The shallow focus is used to bring our attention to the picture and its effect on Jamal. This makes us understand that the picture was used to bullet and embarrass Jamal. This director did this to help us empathise with the character and gain insight into their lives. Coinciding with this is the user is the use of customer -in this case Jamal hats. When Jamal puts the hats on, he wants to hide away and not be seen by the class. This scene introduces the viewer to the theme of the 2tolerance because we can see the currently the students do not respects each others culture, beliefs or identities. This makes students like Jamal feel unsafe in class.

Angles high and low- shows power/dominants
          Lighting - dim/bright- show emotions e.g jamal
          Students- close up
          Teacher- Mid shots
We feel the distance between the students the teacher, gap in understanding
          emotion
          dialogues - Eva
Close up - students, the director wants us to empathise with them, see it from their perspective.
Mid shots - On teacher - shows the divide between them.

In the Holocaust scene, close up are used to show the theme of the emotions of the students. For an instant,  Eva was shouting at the teacher because she 'hates white people on sight'.

          ESOL - GOAL IN SCHOOL

How do I get my stress out of me?

First, the one thing to get my stress out is to get more sleep because I sleep not a lot of time for like 5 or 4 hours of sleep. I would like to get more sleep because I have to wake up early in the morning to prepare myself to get to school or to exercise in the morning to get out of my stress. I want to get more sleep or sleep early to get up early for me to play the game in the morning so I will not play games if I get home and be prepared to eat breakfast..
